After a very competitive screening of over 100 netball athletes for Team Northumbria Hannah Kurzyk O’Donnell has secured a position in the U17 summer academy. This is a huge success for Hannah being only 14 years old. Well done Hannah.
Pupils at St Joseph’s School achieved 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 12 Bronze certificates in this year’s UK Maths Trust – Junior Maths Challenge. The questions tackled by the students are designed to provoke their mathematical thinking and test their problem solving skills. The UK Maths Trust is a charity, supported by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, whose aim is to advance the education of young people in mathematics. Targeted at pupils in years 7 and 8 over 250,000 pupils from across the UK sat the Junior Maths Challenge this year.
The big knitters have nearly ran out of wool! We have now made over 400 hats for the big knit campaign. Wool donations would be very welcome. Please drop them at reception to keep the big knitters busy. Thank you.

We had a fantastic time in Barcelona! The weather was really good and some of us even got sun burns! On our first day, we went to Camp Nou – a massive football stadium and its museum. This was very interesting. On our next day, we went to Port Aventura, a big theme park and we enjoyed the rides. On our last day we went to La Sagrada Familia, a cathedral designed by Gaudi.
