Name of Governor: Patrick Leonard
Designation: Chair of Governors
Governor Information:

I first joined the Governors of St Joseph’s in 2002 when I was Chief Executive of Allerdale Borough Council.  I have been off the Board of Governors and re-joined as evidence of my commitment to St Joseph’s which I believe plays a very important role in promoting the Catholic faith in West Cumbria.

I currently work in Whitehaven for  Howgill Family Centre, a local charity that supports children and families, especially the most disadvantaged.  This means that safeguarding is an issue of which I am especially aware.  A particular concern is to ensure that children from disadvantaged households have the same opportunities as everyone else to fulfill their potential.

I bring a wealth of buisness-related knowledge to my role as a Governor, including finance, personnel and communications.  I have a special academic interest in leadership which was the subject of my doctorate.
